GNS Continues Global Growth Strategy with New Leadership

09.05.2025

Jens Schröder Appointed New CEO – Linus Bettermann Joins Management Board

Daniel Oehr, currently CEO and CFO of GNS, will transition to PreussenElektra GmbH — GNS’s largest shareholder—later in 2025, where he will join the executive board as CFO.

Following Daniel Oehr, Dr Jens Schröder will assume the role of CEO and chair of the GNS management board as of September 1, 2025. He will retain his current responsibility for the nuclear cask business area. Dr Schröder has been with GNS since 2006 and has served on the management board since 2011.

Effective July 1, 2025, Dr Linus Bettermann will join the GNS management board, succeeding Daniel Oehr as CFO. He will take over the corporate and commercial functions in addition to his responsibility for GNS’s sales activities. Dr Bettermann has been with GNS since 2011. After various positions in cask development, he transitioned to sales in 2016, initially as Head of Sales Nuclear Casks. Since 2021, he has served as Vice President Sales and Marketing and as an authorized signatory of GNS. Since 2023, he has also been CEO of GNS subsidiary WTI.

Dr Guido Knott, Chairman of the GNS Supervisory Board, commented on the succession plan:

“We are pleased to have found an ideal internal solution for Daniel Oehr’s succession. Dr Jens Schröder has held leadership responsibility within GNS’s executive team for many years. He is deeply connected within the industry, with regulatory authorities, and with us as shareholders, and enjoys the highest level of trust from all stakeholders. We are delighted to have him now leading GNS.

Dr Linus Bettermann will take over as CFO and new member of the management board. As an experienced developer and successful sales leader and strategist, he is intimately familiar with GNS and has deep knowledge of its subsidiaries, customers, markets, and future opportunities. Linus will be an excellent addition to the management board, both professionally and personally. At the same time, we are confident that this internal succession plan ensures maximum continuity in the successful transformation GNS has embarked upon, positioning the company strongly for the future. We wish both colleagues every success and a sure hand in their new roles!”
