Holger Bröskamp, who has been the Spokesman of the GNS Board of Managing Directors since 2003, will now take on the role of Vice Chairman of the Board and become responsible for the “Waste Management” unit. This unit covers all activities involving the management of waste, residual materials and spent fuel from German nuclear power plants, including the interim storage facilities in Ahaus and Gorleben. In his “Technology” unit, Dr Jens Schröder, who has been a Managing Director of GNS since June 2011, will combine all activities related to the design, authorisation and construction of the facilities and containers required for waste disposal. Commercial activities and the areas of legal matters, human resources and IT will continue to be managed by Georg Büth, who has been a member of the GNS Board of Managing Directors since 2008.

When speaking about the new organisation of the GNS Board of Managing Directors, Dr E. h. Bernhard Fischer, the Chairman of the GNS Supervisory Board, stated that: “With this new management and corporate structure, we have put GNS in a powerful position to deal with its increasing number of activities in all aspects of nuclear waste managment in Germany. We would like to wish all members of staff, the Board of Managing Directors and in particular the new Chairman all the best and every success!”
